On Nov. 2004, Siemens Industrial Automation Ltd., Shanghai (SIAS) signed the contract with Jiangsu Meilan Group for ION-membrane caustic soda second phase Project.

Jiangsu Meilan Chemical Group is located in Taizhou(Jiangsu) as an all-round chemical enterprise, whose production value exceeded 100 Million RMB in 2003. The production capability of ION-membrane caustic soda first phase Project is 50,000 ton per year, it applies Italian UHDENORA's production facility and now has start successfully. This is the first application of this production facility in China. For the excellent capability of Siemens control system and professionalism of SIAS engineering team, this project won the Award of Excellent Industry Control System.

The second phase project adopt the same production facility as the first one's, the capability is extended to 100,000 ton per year and total I/O number is 1,700, it is based on two Siemens powerful redundant CPU. This project is forecasted to commission on May 2005 and start on Jul. 2005. It will greatly improve soda output capability and quality of Meilan Group after this project completed, it will also greatly improve the competition capability of Meilan Group in this field.
