Competing with Yokogawa and other companies in the field of DCS, in Aug. 2003 SIAS won the contract with a Chemical Group for installing a DCS system for the ION- membrane caustic soda.

This Chemical Group is located in Taizhou (Jiangsu) as an allround chemical enterprise, which manufactures the series products of chlorine caustic soda, cryogen, fluoride product, more than thirty kinds products. The manufacturing capacity of 120.000 tons every year is listed third place in Jiangsu Province. 2003 the production value exceeded 100 Million RMB, the production capability of the new installed DCS system for the ION-membrane caustic soda is 50.000 ton per year, the production facilities are provided by Italian UHDENORA.

Team work as well as Siemens' concept of Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) were crucial to win this project. The new PCS7 system will consist of a total number of 2000 I\O points. Profibus and the integral concept of the PCS7 system show a high technological level.

After finishing kick off meeting, training, programming, IT, FAT, SAT and test operation, the soda plant began to start production of caustic soda and the byproduct chlorine in June 2004. Users and providers were satisfied as the new system does not only enable the plant to produce with the latest technology but also helps to reduce energy costs and pollution.
